Lots of silverware heading to Mill Lane

There’s plenty of cleaning and polishing to do in the coming months after three big trophies made their way to Mill Lane from the Leicestershire & Rutland League presentation night on Friday.

We were finally able to pick up the Premier League trophy, with Club Captain Jigar Naik and Neil Pullen making the walk up to pick up the trophy while Naik also collected the League Cup and Pete Willcocks, camouflage shirt and all, collected the Challenge Cup trophy.

In addition to that, Mark Barber collected the Division Nine Central winners shield and the Thirds had a second trophy to collect, the Division Four Central runners up shield, which Nick Batts collected on Willcocks’ behalf so that he didn’t get any more stick from compere for the night, former Essex and England all rounder, Ronnie Irani.

Irani was joined for the night by former England legend Allan Lamb, with the former Northamptonshire man going through a Q&A during the evening.

Congratulations to all of the other clubs and individuals who collected awards on the night. Not long until the 2018 season!
